What you must understand well is that it is all grace. The fact of living is grace; all the tribulations you must go through give you the means to grow. Joys, tragedies, belong to this vast programme and you hold in your hand the very tool for your evolution.

"To accept the tests with gratitude is a great grace. You may find it difficult to admit. You say: we are not saints; this speech is not worth anything. Even if these assertions are beyond you, you should know that at one stage in your process, in this life or another, you will understand this reasoning and will adhere to it completely.

"Throughout his life, man is in search of happiness, of a fairly quiet and uneventful life, or rather of a beautiful story, like the fairy tales which mothers tell their little children where everything is done to move away from the wicked and to avoid tragedies.

"It is up to you to write your own tale, a nice story where you take long strides forward, carried by a real desire to reach nirvana one day, to be freed from your chains and to be the happiest creature of your divine Master."
