Would our scribe be showing signs of lassitude? We could understand it after all these many years of service. Your tiredness is physical; your heart is not tired of receiving us and loving us. We have no doubt on this aspect. The aspiration of the being for spiritual elevation is insatiable; it benefits from each opportunity to seize its chance. It is in need, and impatient to progress when it has reached this stage. Our faithful abhyasis know it well; they are attentive to all the signs that do occur. They are assiduous, persevering and worthy, in the way of leading a simple life whereby due place is given to what they regard as being very important: their spiritual practice.

"All this seems the most normal possible, but out of the large number of humans living on this Earth, not many have this way of life. Our remarks do not teach you anything, they are only meant to make you reflect one moment on this sad truth: men as a whole don't care much about their evolution. They pursue fleeting pleasures and try to accumulate goods of which, sooner or later, they will be dispossessed."

Always bear in mind all the good things life has brought to you; see only the positive side. Rejoice for all the graces you have received, including the encounter with your Master, within a strong and high-level spiritual family. Not everyone is privileged in finding their way; many seek it throughout their entire life but to no avail. They are not truly ready and this aspiration remains futile. Life sees to it to prepare them; they necessarily face ordeals, some of which are particularly enlightening for them. Man needs sufferings and tears to grow. Across the board success for him would not develop the innermost aspects of his personality. If he had to live in utmost bliss, he would not wonder about his becoming and the true reason for his stay on this Earth. Difficulties put him back into reality; the need to fight is man's characteristic. He can find his bearings only in efforts and struggles of all sorts, which he must lead. He can earn wisdom by dint of that."
