If you knew the hidden side of history, you would be amazed (e.g. Joan of Arc's life) and disappointed about all this legend which surrounds the life of some personalities of Christianity. This same is true for other religions, to a lesser extent, but some facts were strongly magnified and embroidered. It's an area where Christian history is particularly rich. They—these ecclesiastical authorities— did and said so many things to soften the opinion and retain the faithful, in spite of crimes perpetrated in the name of faith. The teaching of the Master, Christ, divested of all the mythical attributes which were added to it, is so beautiful. One should retain only that, and never forget faith and devotion which it has been generating for centuries, while helping millions of souls."
