Life is a series of new beginnings. Nothing lasts forever, and everything is renewed. Human beings also are just passers-by. They can leave behind them memories, more or less strong; some of them leave their mark on humanity for good reasons, and others for bad ones. Such is life. Men often behave as if they were eternal, clinging to goods or ideas; none is worth losing one's soul for it. A wise man builds himself another universe. He looks to the sky; he scrutinises it by trying to understand the mysteries that it conceals. The religions give it their respective ideas. They fabricate a story likely to comfort or terrorise man, depending on whether he is good or wicked. Paradise according to Muhammad does not resemble that of Jesus, or that of Buddha. One needs strong images to convince humans. Their senses need to create for themselves an idea of what awaits them, and to draw up their own representation of it. That way, they can lead their life according to what they believe in, and impose a lifestyle on themselves that reassures them. This way of being means that they believe in God; they have [therefore] taken an important step forward. It is the beginning of a long process that will influence them in an indelible way. One day, their vision will change; with the passing incarnations, they will be directed towards a more edifying way of life, and will live other experiences. At the end of this long process, perhaps they will have the luck, like you, to meet the living Master who will change their destiny."
