My very dear son, 'Quality and number' – this comment of yours concerning the abhyasis is a beautiful piece of wisdom worth meditating upon. It applies to present times which, for most, are characterised by a difficult life – one in which their nerves are tested because of the many harmful effects created by imbalances or even by misunderstood pathologies that result from a tragic and irreversible situation.

Our brothers and sisters are no exception to this. Moreover, they no longer live peacefully and withdrawn from the world. Many suffer physically and morally. That is part of the path, but there is acceleration in this area that is not conducive to practising regularly, especially in a meeting place. To some extent, we can make things easier for them, as regards their spiritual practice, by providing for schedules of meditation and taking into account all the difficulties of accommodating the greatest number. This does not preclude personal effort – quite the contrary – nor does it preclude discipline and uprightness in all aspects of their way of living, including the principles that are ours.

That is what is suggested by reflecting on the maxim mentioned at the beginning of this message. The world is going in the wrong direction, and this irrefutable state of affairs can only worsen. It is up to us to see and act for the good of all, and especially for the good --Privilege of the Heart
