However advanced on the spiritual path, one must keep in touch with the realities of modern life; one does not preclude the other. A mysticism too distant from the current material life is not desirable.

"You need in this incarnation to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground; beside your spiritual work, it is necessary for your balance. We do not expect you to devote half of your time to Sahaj Marg practice, but only to comply with what we advise you to do. Apart from the time spent doing your sadhana properly, we ask you to try to attend to your affairs while remaining as much as possible in a good condition of heart remembrance – this heart where so many admirable things are achieved. You have started having evidence of what we have been putting forward for a long time. Man of the future will no longer be able to deny anything. It will be as plain as two and two make four.

"We are not yet there and you must forge ahead, not in darkness; you have passed this stage only by trusting us completely about your progress and your final achievement. Think of the chance you have!"

You can quote that definition of chance we gave you a long time ago. It is and will always be topical as long as the Earthly world exists: Chance does not exist, it is an opportunity given to man for his destiny to be achieved.

"Absorb this definition, observe anything unusual happening in your life and think of what it can mean. There are signs that should be seen and not ignored.

"Life shakes you up sometimes. It makes you go in directions opposite to those you are following and that unsettles you a little, but it is your destiny which is being achieved and you cannot escape it.

"Always be surrendered to divine Providence; let our work be achieved. We always act only for your good, even if some upheavals are painful to overcome. Remain trustful no matter what happens; what is not to your liking is sometimes necessary to make you move in the right direction or for you to make a good decision. We ensure that the best happens for you, and in spite of disconcerting appearances, you must remain confident."
