My daughter, loving like that brings the soul into indescribable states. No Earthly joy is comparable to them. It is the fruit of a long search and the love it [the soul] has managed to cultivate. In these moments of intense communion, the heart takes the entire place; the remainder loses its importance. The mystic develops in himself a second life built on these contacts that have become essential to his Earthly existence, the effects of which lead him beyond materiality with which he is confronted each day. He grows stronger by drinking from the celestial cup, to which he comes and drinks more and more. His soul is constantly in need; this need does not desert him any more. Happy is the one who reaches this stage and manages to keep at it. He does not find, here below, any equivalent to it. Loving like that is a grace. Devote yourself to cultivating this love; it does not hinder your active life in any way. Quite to the contrary, it gives it colours that are not perceptible by all. By being among the chosen ones, you enjoy special joys, unworldly ones. Thus, you prepare your future life which will easily find its place."
