Your heart is insatiable; we cannot fulfil it and that is well. That permanent need of our love is only humanly felt; this aspect represents the difference between the levels of consciousness. A feeling of satiety would probably not keep it equally on the alert, with the same vigilance, and that constant need to be united with us.
"The human being is complex. Whatever his sincerity and the depth of his commitment, he needs a feeling of emptiness and appeal to be maintained in him. Grace can satisfy a heart temporarily, but it will keep this inextinguishable thirst for the Divine; it is in the nature of things. The heart does not resist this power of attraction; the more it engages in the way of love, the better it feeds on its benefits. This sometimes almost painful emptiness felt by a loving heart is the hallmark of grace. Happy is one who reaches that level; in his spiritual progress, that inner attitude places him both in a state of surrender and constant request. That thirst is the essential driving force of this process; without it, what would happen?
"Therefore, my child, be happy not to be able to fulfil it. It is the best of your life on this Earth. Be more and more united with your Master through the heart; you are suffering from being so far from him. Many of our brothers meet him, yet they cannot be satisfied if they are not in the adequate inner condition. Cultivate love in yourself, with the greatest attention. It alone can lead you through the secret doors; they do not resist it. Be in peace and enjoy what you have, as wise men do."
