It's good that you remember some of what I said. You are right to keep up cleanliness and your appearance. My remark on that day was meant only to emphasize the fact that inner beauty is more important than the physical aspect.

You saw in this report how the Baul devotees live, the beauty of their faith, what they endure to go to these great celebrations, as well as their poverty. You all cannot understand the Indian soul, or the way these people live. You do not have the same priorities. It is another world, in spite of the progress taking place in a part of this country; but can one call it progress? That's another debate that does not concern us here. You are at the dawn of an era of spirituality; there will be a lot of trial and error and heartbreak to reach the goal.

Religions have marked people's minds so much. A universal current must be established on Earth, which will unify devotion beyond dogmas and rites.

You abhyasis, you belong to this redeeming tide. Through your personal work and what you further relay, you are preparing this future spiritual movement that will bring human beings together instead of dividing them and making them kill one another in the name of principles that do not even respect the ideas of the masters who taught them.

We will come back to this chapter. Know that everything you do as you apply yourselves to your sadhana represents a tiny but constructive part of this new state of

mind for future times. We are developing, building, stone by stone, a new edifice where certain people will no longer have in mind, as they do now, the sole idea of destroying their enemies, namely those who do not think like them. In troubled times, it is good to think of a more serene future for the Earth. You are precursors, but do not imagine, either, that you are the only ones on the right path. Do not fall into that trap. One must avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, as well as this unfortunate tendency of humans to believe they are the only holders of the truth. You said, my daughter, that my criticisms were blessings; you are wise. Our criticisms are often misunderstood. A severely wounded person whose wounds are touched cannot but suffer; it is a human reaction. There are different types of criticism. You have to get over that and realize that your Masters have only one goal – to help you. This must be recognized, otherwise there is no possible advancement. Soul-searching is important. Any spiritual path entails this personal work.

Rest a little, meditate. You see, it is good when you are able to relax. Our contacts should not, on any account, create tension in you. As for the birthday, don't worry. People who need to be near you will be. You know well that your life is for the most part remote-controlled. Do not plan anything; a little whimsy is not bad. The Medium: Will you come, Babuji?

How can you ask this question? The Medium: Forgive me. I am always amazed, like a little girl in front of the Christmas tree, at the graces you bestow on me.
