To my dear son, these sordid suits, after so many years, concerning the accession of my spiritual son to the head of the Mission, demonstrate in notorious fashion the inability of these beings to assume the role. It is easy to imagine what such minds would have done in his position.

This kind of reaction occurred after the Great Master's departure, then after mine, and whoever is the representative chosen to succeed him, the same pattern will be repeated.

Some intractable individuals of his present circle will not accept his choice of successor.

Where, in such reactions, are the love and respect for the Master whom they claim to want to succeed? What gives them the right to make a better choice, and to think that only they can be worthy of access to this position? We always come back to the very disconcerting human shortcomings, which are not easy to control because they express themselves at all costs.

Faithfulness to the current Master must be expressed by transferring this feeling to his successor.

Is this too much to ask of abhyasis? Will they finally understand that respect for the choice made by the predecessors denotes a certain elevation of the mind on their part?

By showing the love they say they have for their Master, right to the end, and by accepting the choice that is made, they truly demonstrate all the greatness of their soul.
