My dear son, you have absolutely nothing to blame yourself for as regards France, or any other country. You have always done precisely what was needed. Rest easy, you cannot change anything about the situation. This fact is distressing, but it is part of the ups and downs of politics and a particular mentality that prevails here at the moment. In the future, all will get back to normal and the Mission will recover its due place. It will come out of this surer of itself and strengthened, in a country where the newfound freedom will permit it to prosper.
