Simplicity in a spiritual system is essential. The addition of means that pertain to prevailing fashions is not in conformity with the Spirit, which is devoid of human rantings.
"Men's malaise in these troubled times is aggravated by a lack of concentration on what should be essential for their lives. They readily have several irons in the fire in search of methods, each one more fashionable than the other and holding out the promise of their greater welfare.
"It is disturbing that in spite of his efforts to become psychologically stronger and face up to life's difficulties, a person will not necessarily draw any material benefit from his efforts. A certain number of our brothers struggle to focus themselves on their work; they hope to find a magic formula sparing them any effort.
"As a whole, our aspirants become aware of the help and stability provided by a spiritual process. To persevere in the way, united with the Master, gives hope for a successful incarnation, in terms of its key aspects.
"No system can prevent the difficulties of life. Having the recourse of faith increases moral fibre, making it possible to fight. The way is fraught with obstacles for all; being both inevitable and constructive, they drive man into a corner where he must face himself.
