Only love can touch us. What does 'merit' mean if it not bathed in love? Our criteria are different from those of human beings who are entangled in their own evaluation of beings, according to what they are themselves and of some social conventions. We know the hearts; they have no secret from us. They have got many surprises in store; appearances can be deceptive.

"Love is the highest and most subtle energy. It can be refined ad infinitum. Men speak about love without knowing it really. They can have an approximate idea of it, but on Earth, they will not grasp its reality. A heart thirsting for God calls for its graces, which can let the heart imagine what it can be.

"A great spiritual Master's heart is the guardian of this energy, which it redistributes for the good of humanity. It is difficult, even impossible, for men to imagine this work; even the person most directly concerned does not properly evaluate the importance of his task. He is a heart in the heart of the world, a spiritual engine, spreading positive forces to all the winds. He goes far beyond the sphere of activity, which he imagines. He is the divine tool par excellence.

"He is a beacon, whose reach is not visible to men. He struggles and he must fight like each one of them. He is apparently alone, performing his duty, often misunderstood, but his true nature is beyond what humans imagine it to be. He is loved, supported and surrounded by us all here, who accompany him in his high level mission. That, my dear son, is what we wanted to tell our aspirants; you already know all of it."
