You are advancing, my daughter; is this not what you wish? We cannot spare you everything with regard to the miseries of this world. As for your spiritual progress, we manage it as we see fit. By offering your heart to us, you place it under our protection and it is up to us to take care of its blooming. This does not represent a major concern for you; you do what you deem right to serve us, without expecting any reward. You cannot act better; doing it out of self-interest does not serve any valid cause. Surrendering to the divine will must be achieved with utmost selflessness. The efforts bear fruit, it is in the nature of things; love offered in addition is like an aureole crowning the whole.

Thus doing, don't you feel you are overcome with some sort of exaltation that makes you happy? Meditate on this way of being and cultivate it within you, if it is not innate.
