Faith is the driving force of spiritual life. Without it, cool logic supporting an intellectual process cannot be fruitful. The search for God must take place on other planes where reason is not at the centre of action. The great mystics do not venture into this arid way. These kinds of equations are strangers to them; they love, quite simply – far from any mathematical rigours. Their wondering about the destiny of man, the mystery of life and the greatness of God, is done in a very different way, as it is prompted by their hearts. Only this aspect of the process can help them to progress. Developing love opens doors for them that would have remained closed. No other motive would succeed in that. These keys are not accessible to all; they can be crafted by a specific state of mind. The code is secret, it must be looked for, and it adapts to circumstances. The evolution of the candidate determines the changes thereof. The mystic crafts himself his own specific key, secret to the eyes of men. The complexity and elaboration of the relevant system are recorded in the great book of life. This characteristic will accompany him in his long rise."
