Each victory won over oneself, however small, is important. It shows you that you can have, when you so wish, the necessary strength of character to overcome unfortunate tendencies. A day will come when you will be able to make a satisfactory assessment of it. Your efforts are not useless. Managing to overcome a constraining human nature is a success which you can but only rejoice in.

"This is how each life is worth living: a big blank page is before you where you can record – if the notion of good and evil is obvious to you – your failures and your victories, the negative and the positive aspects of your actions and your thoughts. The latter must be tracked permanently; they mould you, do not forget it.

"May you make sure that throughout your lifetime the beam of the scale tips down to the right side and saves you precious time. Managing to control oneself is commendable. All your efforts are recorded; they are added to each other and make your life richer. We are not moralisers; these comments quite simply aim at encouraging you on a path which you wish to be sanctifying."
